Ladies: long-sleeved plain black blouse/top, long black skirt or smart black trousers, black tights and shoes; discreet jewellery. For concerts coloured scarves are worn, which are provided by the Society at a cost of £3.
Gentlemen: black DJ, white shirt and black trousers. Black bow tie (red at Christmas).
Members use black folders for concerts. If you don’t have your own, a few are available to be borrowed from the Society.
For the Christmas concert we generally cover folders with (non-rustling!) gold paper.
If you would like to join us, please contact our Chairman, Sue Wright, on 01424 213352, or use the Contact Page to e-mail us.
Membership subscriptions are currently £92 per year (April to March). These may be paid annually in April, or in two instalments in April and September. (If you join between these dates, you will need to see the Treasurer for advice).
If you are a new member, you will not be asked to pay immediately, but will have a trial period of a few weeks to decide if this is for you or not.
Members may, if they wish, buy their own music, but most people borrow music from the Librarian, for which there is usually a small hire charge.
Under our Director of Music, Kenneth Roberts, we perform 3 main concerts during the year, featuring a wide range of choral music. Our concerts usually take place at St. Augustine's Church, Cooden Drive, TN39 3AZ, in May and October, with the Christmas Carol concert in December. The church has a small car park and there is also ample on-street parking.
Our regular rehearsals are on Wednesdays 7-9 p.m. at St. Martha's Church Hall, Cooden Sea Road, Little Common, TN39 4SL. We rehearse from January to July and from September to December. There is parking in front of the church or a public car park behind the hall, accessed next to Tesco, which is FREE after 6pm.
