Our Autumn Concert is a performance of Handel’s Messiah – possibly the best-known choral work in the world, which is regularly performed in concert halls and theatres around the world, as well as featuring in a huge number of films and TV series. The famous Hallelujah chorus is only one of many wonderful choruses, balanced with dramatic and beautiful solos. The English text is drawn from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, but its themes of suffering, hope and redemption are universal, and the drama and range of emotional expression make it a riveting concert experience.
Kenneth Roberts conducts, with accompaniment by the Sussex Concert Orchestra and organist Nigel Howard. Bexhill Choral Society is joined by soloists Helen May da Silva (soprano), Sarah Denbee (mezzo-soprano), Kristian Thorkildsen (tenor) and Peter Grevatt (baritone).
Tickets are £15 in advance or £17 on the door, and £12 for Friends of BCS. Tickets are already available from Second Spin in Sackville Road, Bexhill (cash only), or online from ticketsource.co.uk/bcs or 0333 666 3366. Tickets will also be available from choir members from 10th September. Booking is strongly recommended, as this is a very popular piece!
The programme is included and refreshments (wine or juice) will be available.

We are always happy to welcome new members to our friendly non-audition choir. Perhaps you or someone you know might be interested? There is increasing evidence that singing in a choir is not only very enjoyable, but is also good for your physical and emotional health, so why not give it a try?
Potential members are invited to attend a few rehearsals free of charge to try it out. We welcome people with a range of musical knowledge and experience, although some ability to follow written music is advisable. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6.45 to 8.45, at Little Common Community Centre, Shepherds Close, Little Common, Bexhill TN39 4SQ.
As well as putting on three concerts a year with a repertoire ranging from baroque to the Beatles, we hold several other events including our Music Director's annual recital, a Quiz and Ploughman's evening, Christmas lunch and summer social, and people generally find us a friendly lot!
