Handel’s oratorio Messiah is possibly the best-known choral work in the world, regularly performed in concert halls and theatres world-wide as well as featuring in a huge number of films and TV series. It is full of wonderful and memorable tunes, with the famous 'Hallelujah' chorus only one of many powerful choruses, which are balanced with dramatic and beautiful solos. While the English text is drawn from the Old and New Testaments, its themes of suffering, hope and redemption are universal, and Messiah’s dramatic theatricality and range of emotional expression make it a riveting concert experience.
Bexhill Choral Society will be accompanied by the Sussex Concert Orchestra conducted by Kenneth Roberts, and the soloists will be Helen May da Silva (soprano), Sarah Denbee (mezzo-soprano), Kristian Thorkildsen (tenor), and Peter Grevatt (baritone).
